Methodology
In a dermatologically controlled study, 20 healthy female and male participants aged from 13 years and above with dry to very dry skin, and blemished, acne prone skin, applied Very Dry Face Cream on the face twice daily for 14 days to determine its efficacy in increasing the skin’s hydration and overall improvement of the skin’s condition.
Results
The moisture of the skin was measured non-invasively with a Corneometer by recording the electrical capacitance of skin surface. An increase in the moisture level was observed on all 20 subjects following the application of the cream when compared with untreated skin. An improvement of 129,3 % in the skin moisture was observed in the test area (face) after 24 hours. Moreover, an Improvement of 231,1 % of the skin moisture was observed in the test area after 2 weeks.
Results demonstrate that Very Dry Face Cream is very effective in moisturising very dry skin on the face.
The above results are from a study conducted by Dermatest GmbH in Germany, an independent testing facility as commissioned by LaCorium Health Australia Pty Ltd.
Methodology
The efficacy of the test product Very Dry Face Cream with respect to the efflorescence is best determined on skin that is prone to acne. The change in acne is determined by accurately counting the various efflorescence by a trained assessor. Comedones (blackheads), papules (nodules) and pustules (pus-filled vesicles) are counted on the face before and after 2 weeks of application of the cream.
Results
After 2 weeks of application of the cream on the face, the following noticeable changes were observed on 20 participants:
- reduction in the number of comedones by 26,0 %,
- reduction in the number of papules by 17,4 %, and
- reduction in the number of pustules by 27,2 % in the test area could be shown.
Data shows that not only Very Dry Face Cream did not increase efflorescence on the skin including comedones, but it also showed that the cream contributed to a mean decrease in the overall number of efflorescence. It can hence be concluded that Dermal Therapy Very Dry Face Cream is non-comedogenic.
