Methodology
In a controlled study, 20 healthy female participants aged between 26 to 65 years applied Sanitising Hand Cream onto the skin to determine its efficacy in keeping the skin hydrated after a single application.
The skin’s hydration level was measured prior to controlled application of cream. After application, the skin’s moisture level was assessed over three time points; after 4 hours, after 8 hours and after 24 hours of application.
The moisture of the skin was measured non-invasively with a Corneometer by recording the electrical capacitance of skin surface.
Results
An increase in the moisture level was observed following the application of the cream when comparing with initial and untreated skin. The skin remained moisturised in 100% of the participants over 24-hour period with a peak in moisture level noted after 4 hours of application of the cream. Results hence showed that single application of Dermal Therapy Sanitising Hand Cream is effective in improving and maintaining the skin’s moisture for 24-hour period.

Methodology
Bactericidal activity of Sanitising Hand Cream was determined using Dilution – Neutralisation method of European Standard, BS EN 1276:2019. In this validated procedure, prescribed numbers of four common bacterial pathogens; Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus hirae were bought into contact with the Sanitising hand cream for 30 seconds. Viable bacterial colony was counted to determine the inhibition effect produced by the hand balm in 30 seconds of contact.
Results
Sanitising Hand Cream was able to obtain greater than 6.36 log reduction i.e. 99.99% reduction in viability of all four common pathogenic bacteria within 30 seconds of contact. To be deemed effective, the product is required to obtain at least 5 log reduction (105 reduction) of bacterial concentration. Results hence showed that the cream is effective in sanitising the hands against these common bacterial pathogens.
